BIO
Winnie was born to a humble, but loving family. She is one of twelve children, where she says “unity and faith” were the foundation of their lives. She grew up in a community where most people made a living through cattle keeping. Winnie witnessed many in her community struggle, but shared that her community’s lifestyle, while modest, “reflected strength, cooperation, and resilience.” While Winnie grew up in a loving and supportive family, with twelve children and limited resources, it was often hard to afford basics, such as school fees. Winnie’s parents worked incredibly hard to make sure their children attended school. Winnie shared she sees education as the most powerful tool in changing lives. She said, “Watching my parents sacrifice to ensure we went to school inspired me to dream beyond my circumstances. I grew up believing success is not only personal, but also a way to uplift others.” Winnie is now a student at the University of Rwanda, working towards her degree in Accounting and Finance. Winnie dreams of becoming an expert in financial management, while also using her knowledge and skills to drive positive changes within society. Her goals include promoting financial literacy among youth and small business owners, supporting relevant community-based projects, and contributing to Rwanda’s development. Outside of school, Winnie enjoys activities that inspire her personal and spiritual growth. She loves worshipping, reading, listening to music, and quiet reflection.
