Sandra is the fourth of six children in her family. Sandra, her siblings, and her parents grew up in Rwanda. Sandra’s mother is the backbone of their family. Her examples of hard work, patience, service to others, and love have been hugely influential for Sandra. While Sandra and her family have faced difficulties, Sandra’s mother has been a reminder to her not to be defined by challenges, but instead to remain hopeful and be of service to others. 

Sandra is taking these lessons with her as she now pursues a degree in Pharmacy at the Institut d’Enseignement Supérieur de Ruhengeri. Sandra hopes to further her studies in pharmaceutical sciences. She is interested in learning more about how drugs are made and how they interact in the human body. She dreams of being able to use her degree to help patients better understand their medications. Sandra ultimately hopes to contribute to the advancement of medicine development, especially in areas such as cancer treatment and diabetes. 

Sandra is passionate about exploring new things or places and learning what she can. She enjoys playing games and learning new skills, such as public speaking, leadership, and communication. She also likes to read and listen to music, which she finds relaxing and healing.
