Nicole comes from a small, but close knit family of six. Nicole shared that her parents worked hard to provide for her and her siblings, teaching them the importance of education, kindness, and perseverance. Nicole described the Rwandan community she grew up in as “warm and friendly.” While many in her community faced challenges, such as economic hardships, community members cared for one another and often came together in times of celebration or to help those in need. Nicole shared growing up in her family and community shaped her values, teaching her the value of being together, the importance of hope, and how to give back to others. 

Now, Nicole studies Industrial Design at the University of Rwanda. Nicole dreams of becoming a designer and using her degree to help address real-world problems, such as accessibility, sustainability, and poverty. 

When she’s not studying, Nicole likes music, dance, drawing, and painting.
