Moses was born in Uganda, where he and his family lived as refugees. When Moses was two years old, his family returned to Rwanda. Moses and his family have faced many difficulties. His mother raised him and his three siblings, as his father had two other wives and only saw his family once a year. Moses’ mother worked hard to provide food, shelter, and education for her children. Moses’ mother passed away due to cancer, which has weighed heavily on him and his family. 

Growing up in his home community in Rwanda, Moses was always the stubborn and funny kid among his peers. Moses feels that growing up in his community shaped him to be a person who cares about the people around him. Moses watched many in his community struggle with alcohol addiction. Moses would like eventually to contribute towards empowering youth in his community, working towards reducing the impact of addiction on his community. 

Now, Moses is attending the East African Christian College, studying Business Monitoring and Evaluation. Moses chose this course of study as he believes these globally-recognized skills are essential to many organizations and projects, especially NGOs. With a background in Monitoring and Evaluation, Moses will be equipped to advocate for resource allocation based on evidence and need assessments. This is crucial in areas like his home community, which has faced economic challenges. With his degree, he hopes to be a leader in his community and advocate for investments in education, healthcare, and economic development. 

Outside of the classroom, Moses plays football (soccer) and was recently a team captain. He’s actively involved in organizing sports-related community events as a way to help empower and mentor youth.
