Living grew up with his parents, three sisters, and brother. Living’s parents left Rwanda before he was born, due to the ongoing violence. They settled in Tanzania, where Living was born. They later returned, without any belongings, to Rwanda as refugees and were given a small plot of land to grow crops. His parents had extensive knowledge about rearing animals, particularly cows, and Living grew up helping them with their work. Living’s father eventually lost his job, creating many challenges for their family. While Living and his siblings all attend school, his parents have struggled to afford school fees and other basics for their children. Living’s home community posed many challenges, including lower school performance due to youth having to travel far to go to school. Growing up in his home village, Living often worked as a farmer. Despite the challenges his family faced as cattle keepers, Living’s community helped him develop a love for agriculture and a desire to improve agricultural practices. 

Now, Living attends the University of Rwanda, studying Agricultural Mechanization. Living dreams of helping Rwandans practice modern agriculture, improving food security for his community and country at large, as well as increasing financial security for farmers. Living hopes that by improving agricultural practices, local communities can become more self-reliant. 

Outside of the classroom, Living enjoys playing football (soccer) and participates in Youth Impact Mission – Rwanda.
