Kelly was born into a family of six, with two parents and three sisters. He grew up in a community in Rwanda that had limited resources, but was connected and supportive. Kelly believes growing up in his family taught him responsibility, effective communication, and the importance of seeing different perspectives. Kelly shared that his family upheld values such as respect, hard work, and the importance of supporting each other. 

Kelly values education and is now a student at the University of Kigali, studying Public Administration and Local Governance. In talking about his hopes for the future, Kelly shared he hopes to use his degree to become a “bridge between local government and the communities they serve.” His goal is to design people-first policies to improve the responsiveness of local systems, positively impacting community members’ everyday lives. 

In addition to Kelly’s interest in public administration, he enjoys debate, reading, being in nature, and learning about leadership and social issues. Kelly also likes to volunteer and stay connected to  his community.
