Ivan was born in Uganda, but grew up in Rwanda’s Eastern Province. Ivan was raised by his parents alongside his three sisters. Growing up, most people in Ivan’s village were farmers, including Ivan’s parents.  While Ivan’s family faced financial hardships, his parents worked incredibly hard to support Ivan and his sisters, always encouraging them to study. For Ivan, growing up in his village “taught me to work hard, be kind – and value family, faith, and education.”

Ivan is now attending Adventist University of Central Africa, working towards a degree in Networks and Communication Systems. He hopes to use his degree to help improve how people connect and share information. Ivan shared his dream is to “work on building strong and secure networks that make communication faster and easier for everyone. I believe good communication systems can support schools, hospitals, and businesses to work better and grow.” He also hopes to help create new economic chances for youth, helping to advance Rwanda’s technological growth. 

Outside of school, Ivan enjoys playing volleyball and soccer. As an extrovert, he really enjoys being active and spending time with people.
