Faith is the third-born in a family of six children. She was born in Uganda, where her parents lived as refugees. They later moved to Rwanda, their home country, settling in the eastern part of the country. Life there was challenging as her parents practiced subsistence farming. Finding money for school fees and rent was a constant struggle for her family. Despite these challenges, her parents never gave up. They worked incredibly hard to send Faith and her siblings to school. 

Growing up in a rural community meant that internet access was limited and getting to school required Faith to travel long distances. Despite these challenges in her community, Faith gained a strong sense of community and these shared experiences helped shape who she is today. Faith said her community helped her “emphasize the importance of community ties in overcoming obstacles and finding joy in simple, shared moments.”

Now, Faith attends the Adventist University of Central Africa, studying Accounting. Faith looks forward to the wide range of career options that will be available to her. For Faith, a university education and a degree in Accounting holds the key to being able to impact positively her community and country. She hopes to contribute to her community’s economic growth, promote transparency in local businesses, and empower those by teaching financial literacy skills. 

Outside of the classroom, Faith volunteers with an organization where she mentors over 100 children.
