Clemence was born into a family of nine. She is from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Clemence grew up in a refugee camp, which posed many challenges for her and her family. Despite these challenges, she says her home community was resilient and she experienced a sense of solidarity with those around her. Growing up, Clemence and her family had limited access to basic resources and limited access to education, common for many families in their refugee camp. Despite some of these hardships, Clemence also described positive aspects of growing up in the camp, such as diversity, a strong sense of community support, and being able to adapt to changing circumstances. 

Now, Clemence attends the Integrated Polytechnic Regional College, studying Electrical Technology. 

When she’s not studying, Clemence loves to play volleyball.
