Christophe grew up in a family of six – his mom, two girls, and three boys. His mom is a primary school teacher. Her teacher’s salary isn’t enough to pay rent or buy enough food to feed the family every day. So, Christophe grew up with a lot of instability in his life.

But Christophe’s family wasn’t alone. His entire community was very poor. Almost no one was able to go to school for very long. There just wasn’t enough money to pay school fees. So, boys left early to help support their families; and a high percentage of girls became pregnant at very young ages. This experience only gave Christophe more strength and resolve to work hard, get an education, and be a catalyst for positive change within his community.

Christophe attends the University of Rwanda, where he is studying Accounting. Christophe’s dream is to start his own business that will employ people in his community. He also wants to encourage and teach his employees how to start their own businesses so that even more jobs can be created.

When Christophe is not studying hard, he volunteers his time as his class’s representative for the Accounting Department at the University of Rwanda. Christophe also volunteers with a youth program within his community. Christophe also loves to sing, serving as the lead singer for his church.
