BIO
Charity’s family is large – 13 people. Charity’s memories of childhood are all happy ones. Her parents loved her and her siblings deeply and worked hard to support their family. The only person working outside the home was her father. So, during the holidays, when they were home from school, she and her sisters would work to earn money for their school fees. She looks forward to graduating from university so she can get a good job that will have a positive impact not only for her, but for her family as well. Charity attends the University of Rwanda, where she is studying Nursing. Charity’s dream is to be able to help the poor and vulnerable in her community, making sure they get the medication they need. She also looks forward to being recognized as a strong female leader who works hard to make life better for everyone within her community. Charity shared that she is most inspired by Dr. Claire Karekezi, Rwanda’s first female neurosurgeon. What Charity values most is that Dr. Karekezi never gave up in the face of challenges. She worked hard to make her dream a reality. And that inspires Charity never to give up and to work hard to make her own dreams a reality. She wants to be just as selfless and influential as Dr. Karekezi.
