Anitha was born in Rwanda. Five months after she was born, her father passed away, which was a difficult struggle for Anitha and her mother. Anitha’s uncle was a supportive family member. However he also passed away. Anitha managed to continue school with the help of a scholarship, but it was a challenge. Prior to entering university, Anitha lived with her aunt, uncle, and their ten children.  

Anitha grew up in a close-knit community where everyone knew each other. Despite limited resources, there was a strong sense of unity and support.  Anitha shared that growing up in this environment taught her resilience and the value of relationships. However, financial constraints have posed challenges, hindering her educational and personal growth. Anitha says,“Becoming a TNHF scholar not only empowers me to pursue my dreams, but also to contribute to my community’s progress. It’s a place where dreams often outshine opportunities, and TNHF’s support can be the catalyst for positive change, not just for me, but for the entire community.”

Now, Anitha attends Mount Kigali University, studying Human Resources Management. She hopes that a university education will be a catalyst for positive change, not just for her, but for her community at large. 

Outside of school, Anitha is active in her church.
