JOURNEY

    • February 9, 2019 – When asked to define servant leadership, how that applies to his life now, and his future career, Damour said: “Servant leadership is a leadership where the first goal of a leader is to serve. In servant leadership, the leader first prioritizes other people whom he or she leads before prioritizing himself or herself. It is this kind of leadership which is needed in our community, because most of the leaders use their power in order to satisfy their needs before serving the others. Servant leadership always affects my life because even being supported by These Numbers Have Faces staff is a part of servant leadership, because their impression of supporting us is linked to serving. There are many examples of servant leaders, including our president Paul Kagame where in his everyday leadership serves the Rwandan community before looking to his own benefit. My future career is being a medical doctor. This career will enable me to serve people by saving their lives either during the day or during the night whenever it is needed.”
    • November 19, 2018 – Damour wants to be known as a helpful and serving medical doctor! This semester he hopes to have the best grades in his department!

Damour’S CIRCLE

BIO

Damour grew up in a rural community where he walked two hours each morning to attend school. As a creative young man, he made a game out of the journey — kicking a soccer ball each way to fill the time. He lost his father several years ago, but knowing the importance of education, his mother did everything she could to ensure that her seven children could complete their studies!

Damour is pursuing a degree in Pharmacy with the dream of serving his community by protecting them from disease and other healthcare issues. He recognizes that, although healthcare is improving in Rwanda, there are still many areas without access to the medicine and care they need. He hopes to solve this issue once he obtains his degree.

Damour spends his spare time giving back to the people who have given so much to him. He volunteers to help his elderly neighbors and is supporting policies in his community that will improve living standards for all!
