What does my contribution support?

Your contribution supports a dynamic education and community transformation program in the Cape Flats townships of South Africa.

Through our partnership with local youth empowerment programs and the JL Zwane Centre, These Numbers Have Faces allocates program funds in the following ways:

College scholarships:

A college education in South Africa means empowerment, opportunity, and academic equality for black township youth.

Education is lasting aid. An education doesn’t go away, it can’t be used up. Rather, it expands and the benefits grow exponentially. It is aid put to use forever by people within the community.

Cost, on average is $2000 per year, per student for tuition & books. Students staying on campus have yearly costs of roughly $4000 per year.

Financial Literacy Courses:

All TNHF students are required to attend one financial literacy workshop per year so they can learn how to manage, save, and spend their money wisely and safely.

Students will learn to open and manage personal bank accounts, trained to stay out of debt, save monthly, and budget appropriately.

Furthermore, because of the investment TNHF has made in the educations of our students, we ask our graduates to commit to contribute 1% of their future earning income back into the program for other students coming up behind them.

Financial literacy courses and financial reinvestment monitoring are facilitated by our South African staff and are substantial portions of their job descriptions and duties.

Community Service Programs:

TNHF students involved in the education program commit to giving back to their communities by volunteering with HIV/AIDS orphans, spending time in local schools, and participating in township clean-up projects through the JL Zwane Centre and the South African Volunteer Centre.

Local TNHF staff mentor and monitor students as they complete service projects as a requirement to continue in the These Numbers Have Faces education program.

Mentoring & Tutoring Programs:

These Numbers Have Faces staff and community partners are involved in active mentoring and tutoring with TNHF students. They provide emotional, academic, and spiritual support to ensure students succeed and thrive as college graduates and responsible citizens.
